Our Faith

Our pews are filled with people with many different faith perspectives.

Granby Congregational Church welcomes all, saying, ‘Whoever you are, wherever you are on your life or faith journey, you are welcome here.’ While we honor the traditional creeds of the church as testimonials of faith, we do not see them as tests of faith. People who join with us come out of many faith traditions and sometimes no faith tradition at all. By and large, we are people who take the Bible too seriously to take it literally.

We are an inclusive, caring community of faith that is called to embody God’s love through worship, study, service and building community. We seek daily to live and act in ways that help make Jesus’ example of God’s love for all people real. We celebrate the diversity found in all of God’s creation and believe that all people are included in God’s unconditional love and grace.

We are an open and affirming church.

Granby Congregational Church is an Open and Affirming congregation, a safe place for all of God’s children. We welcome all individuals and families who desire to share in our community of faith. We affirm the dignity and worth of every person, regardless of age, ethnicity, race, mental or physical ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. We offer all sacraments and rites to all who enter our circle of faith. We celebrate the gifts that each person brings to our community and invite them to share in all areas of its service, leadership, activities, responsibilities, and privileges.

Our worship services are intergenerational.

Granby Congregational Church conducts intergenerational worship services, allowing and encouraging interaction between multiple generations of those in attendance. We believe we all have something we can learn from one another, no matter how young or how old we might be. It’s in this setting that we experience spiritual growth and come to have a better understanding of what it means to be a church in today’s world.
